from Junko

The resort is still demanding a lot of work and time , so I asked Junko our Instructor and guide to write us a bit about underwater….

Night dive at house reef. I found blue-ringed octopus just after entry! The blue ring was lit up with torch was so beautiful. I almost touched it. ...no,no, dangerous.

Our pygmy's family is still there. Now there're 9 of them.

And....Dugong! In May, our guest saw him underwater! Usually they run away as soon as possible if meet divers. But this time, he swam around them! Unbelievable!!! Also few days ago, we saw him near the house reef from the boat.

This year, we saw mola mola from the boat more than last year. Few days ago, we almost managed to see him underwater!

We're on the boat to back to resort. Then something black moved on the surface. ...Mola mola!!! We knew he comes up only one or two times and goes down, so we kept on eyes to him. But this time, he didn't go down, just swam closed surface! His fin keep moving around! Ok, get ready to wet again! We put musk and fins, and I entered quickly but quietly.

....ah.....it's far.... His swimming was so quickly.... Bye bye mola mola...

But I feel we will manage to see Mola mola in underwater soon! There's no reason, just I feel!!

On the 9th May, We saw unbelievable things during dive! What do you think???

it's..... Dolphins!!!!!

The point was beautiful slope in Pura Island. At 25m, suddenly I heard somebody's shouting. What’s happen?? I looked up quickly. Then something big were coming from the blue. ....What? Woooooow!!! Dolphins!!!

They were passing front of us. Six of them swim together happily. How beautiful creature they are! Their smile, graceful movement. We just watched them without doing anything.

Already more than one month diving every day since we open this year.

Because of the visibility wasn’t the best you can except in Alor we focused our diving on the macro life and discovery are yet just unbelievable:

On our house reef: 6 or more pygmy are still living in gorgonian at 24m, many leaf fish are also at home here and Dani ,our new pair of eyes, even spot a blue ring octopus ( but this was only once) , need to look for him again, I found again the clown frog fish during night dive he is getting bigger ...

Apart from the frog fish, harlequin ghost pipes that velvet ghost pipe, halimeada ghost pipe in ternate, I would like say few word about the muck diving in Kalabahi bay : several rinopias, Pegasus sea mouth , different kind of frog fish, winged pipe fish, robust, harlequin, velvet ghost pipe, many cow fish….muck diving in Alor is becoming a highlight and guests start to compare it with Lembeh or ambon...

And i almost forgot, a dugong came and circle around 4 happy guests while doing a shallow house reef dive...Alor is still THE PLACE FOR SURPRISES....

Working holiday

The resort is closed for already two months, rain is pouring at some times and all islands are green, very beautiful indeed. On the other hand visibility underwater is bad, and I postpone some exploration dive for the end of March, when it should be better.

Things are moving pretty good here: the new bungalow is almost finish, still some light to install but the main work is done (Some photos soon on this blog). Actually we work every day in improving little things but also at the resort maintenance ( bungalow, generators, engines ect…) . so we kind of have some working holiday, on the other end, we also are a bit on holiday when we are working…

Interesting news: This year, a dive master from Lembeh ( was working 2 years for lembeh Lodge, Denny) is coming to work here as a guide with Junko and me so plenty of good eyes to spot critters.
