Alor Divers house reef photo gallery

Our house reef is offering some really nice diving, even excellent when conditions are right! 10 years ago, when we were looking to settle in Alor, we felt lucky to be able to realize our dream plan on a superb land location with fringing reef in such a great condition. With this quality of diving right on doorstep we could offer our guests unlimited diving. And because such a good diving on our house reef comes as a great surprise to many of our divers, we [finally ] put together the best photos taken exclusively on our house reef and you can see them here: Alor Divers house reef gallery

Over 50 hammerheads circling divers for 10 min !!!

Incredible experience and probably the best action dive we ever made!!!  We had around 50 hammerheads coming to our group of divers, circling them for over 10 minutes!!! Smaller bunch of hammers was so curious, they decided to take a really good look at bubble-makers and came within 5 meters, while the majority of them stayed at a discrete distance of 15 meters or so :o. Divers were "breathlessly" following the spectacle until they decided to leave the scene for a safety ascend !  Now [that] is something to talk about for months (if not years) to come ;) !!!

Yes, we are already well into our 2014 season and action is not only with the big stuff. Muck diving in Kalabahi bay is as good as ever (see a partial list of possible encounters here incredible critter diving in Kalabahi Bay). This year we have also seen eagle rays and huge turtles on few occasions, as well as black tips. Diving is great and divers are happy :)

We hope this blog will inspire more diving enthusiasts who haven't visited Alor yet, to come and discover this hidden jewel of diving :) If Alor is on your 2014 list, don't hesitate too long,  the places at Alor Divers are filling up fast ;)

Happy bubbles  ><)))°>  oO°

Amazing start of the diving season 2013 !

Only a month  since we open this year and the diving has been amazing. Tons of macro life on the coral dives as well as on the muck dive, my favorite fish the harlequin ghost pipe fish has been found in yellow, white, black and orange colors, many of them...always a pleasure to see.

the surprise came this week with a Hairy Frogfish in Goodies...

And for the bigger staff the highlight was a school of hammerhead shark that came close to our group of divers. The photo is taken with fish eye 10.5 and not cropped !!!

yes your are not dreaming, it is Alor not galapagos...!   ;-)

Recap of summer 2012 diving in Alor

The summer is behind us and it was a lot busy here. This year was not so much waves, sea was mostly flat and diving was great. We had several encounter with Hammerhead shark and even a great Hammerhead swimming around in 10M of water at Karl’s Dream…very unusual indeed…
Macro and muck dives were amazing during the first part of the year , for a few weeks is seems that critter are disappearing slowly while the nudibranch boom is coming again ( we always have more nudi during the second part of the year ).
This winter we will close the resort on the 08 of December to open again on the 17 March. Some major improvement will be made with some change in the kitchen building as well as some bungalow renovation.

Beginning of 2011 diving season

Hey,
i know …i should give news more often…
Eva and Pierre a French instructor couple are replacing Junko, she found a new life in Switzerland…( she must miss the warm water and colorful reef already ) …so we all here wish her a good new start .The 30-40 M or more visibility is back, so nice to dive in such clear water, the reef are so colorful.

Macro diving has always is part of surprise and new discover, among them we could mention, tiger shrimp, tiny yellow and red frog fish, incredible halimeda crab ( I don’t know to call it, it was inside the halimeda grass and mimic with it, see photo), Sea horses , Pegasus, rinopias…ect.

And very last news is from our house reef where a family of orange bargibandi made home on a gorgonian fan at 24 m deep.

Till next….safe diving…
